Police are on the lookout for a man who tied up an elderly woman before robbing her house in the early hours of Sunday morning. According to CID investigators, a man broke into the house of the 72-year-old woman just outside Larnaca at around 3am and tied her hands and feet after finding her asleep on the couch in her living room. The man, who was wearing a hood and gloves, then proceeded to steal €50 from her wallet before then going into her bedroom and taking her jewelry. Before leaving, he also took the hard-drive computer for the CCTV cameras around her house.
The victim eventually managed to free herself from the blanket the assailant used to tie her up and run to the neighbour’s house where the police were called. Neighbours drove her to Larnaca General Hospital where she was treated for marks on her wrists and face before being released a short time later. Police have described the man as being around 20-25 years of age, tall and thin built.
