Trident detectives are appealing for witnesses and information following the non-fatal shooting of a man in Wood Green.

Police were called at approx. 23:15hrs on Wednesday, 9 January by London Ambulance Service to a report of a man having approached an ambulance in Glynne Road, N22 suffering shotgun wounds to the face.

This was quickly linked to subsequent calls to police about a disturbance / shots heard in nearby The Sandlings in Turnpike Lane. Officers attended both scenes.

The victim, a 20-year-old man, was taken to an east London hospital. He remains there. His injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

At this early stage detectives understand that the victim was in his car – a blue Vauxhall Vectra – travelling on The Sandlings when another vehicle pulled alongside and discharged a shotgun into the passenger side window of the victim’s car before speeding off.

Detective Inspector Glenn Butler, who is leading the investigation by a Trident Shootings Team, said: “We are appealing for anyone who was in or around the area of The Sandlings; at around 11pm to call us a let us know what they saw or heard to do with this incident. Did you see it? Did you see the suspects’ car driving away? Do you remember anything suspicious before the incident took place? Please call us and let us know. Your call will be treated in the strictest confidence.”

Any witnesses or anyone with any information can call Trident in confidence on 020 8733 4774 or police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

+ Three men were arrested a short time after the incident at an address not far from the scene on suspicion of attempted murder. They were an 18-year-old [A], a 21-year-old [B] and a 54-year-old [C]. All three are currently in custody at separate north London police stations
