Michael Klanga celebrated his 106th birthday party at Anastasia Lodge in Winchmore Hill on Monday 7th January 2013 in a vibrant and pleasant surroundings. Michael is probably the oldest living Cypriot in the UK maybe around the world too.
Michael had the birthday party in the evening at Anastasia Lodge where he resides. The party was a close family affair with his seven children, Andrew, Costa, Chris, Helen, George, Charlie and Irene plus a few invited guests. There was a nice spread of food, desserts and of course the Birthday cake. Also on display were birthday cards from Her Majesty the Queen and from the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions the Right Honourable Iain Duncan Smith MP.
Michael Klanga was born January 7th 1907 in Analyonda in the Nicosia area and was a farmer marrying Maria whose maiden name was Papaconstantinou who was also from Analyonda in the 1940’s. She died about 15 years ago in her early eighties. He came to the UK in 1955 and use to have a grocery store in Camden Town the shop was called To Neon which was opposite the ABC bakery which is now a Sainsbury’s store. He has seven children, 14 Grandchildren and 18 Grandchildren.
The youngest great grandchild Luca who is nine months old was also present and had photos taken with his Great Grand Father
