The Cyprus Tourism Organisation (CTO) has launched a photography competition for the purchase of photographs from residents to be used to promote the island as a tourist destination abroad.
Both amateur and professional photographers are invited to send their high resolution colour digital images of Cyprus taken after January 1, 2012 to CTO by November 25.
The images should be only of the free areas of Cyprus and can depict anything from  urban areas, nature (all seasons), beaches, churches, archaeological sites, night life, celebrations and festivals, traditional life and art and gastronomy (traditional food, drinks, desserts etc).
Evaluation for the selection of photos will be based on the power of an image to convince a prospective tourist to consider visiting Cyprus for his holidays.
Photos can include people; however, the photographer must have written consent from all who appear in the photos that they accept to appear in publications or in other promotional media.
Images must not be less than 3000 pixels and must be in jpg or tiff format. The CTO will offer €25 for each image.
The evaluation of all images submitted to the organisation will be undertaken by a team of experts. The committee will select the images based on the organisation’s requirements in line with their promotional activities.
Promotional activities involve actions not only from CTO but also from associates and will consist of inclusion in magazines and print media, internet and other media.
Photographers should submit their work in a sealed envelope for evaluation accompanied by two forms available from www.visitcyprus.biz, by 11am on November 25.  These should be sent to Christakis Demetriou at the CTO Central Offices, 19 Limassol Avenue, 2nd floor, office 10, Nicosia.
All who participate will be informed of whether their images have been selected.
Those whose images are selected will have to resubmit their images in digital form. For more information visit www.visitcyprus.biz, email cdemetriou@visitcyprus.com or call 22691100.
