Detectives are appealing for the public’s help to trace Jamie Marsh-Smith, who they wish to speak to in connection with the murder of Zafer Eren on the 18 April 2013 in N14.
They have taken the unusual step of naming Jamie Marsh-Smith, 22 (14.6.91) and issuing his photograph in a bid to trace him.
The Met is offering a substantial reward of up to £30,000 for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of those responsible for the murder of Zafer Eren.
Zafer, who was 34 and the father of a month-old baby, was shot dead in the street outside his home in High Street, Southgate, at about 19:21hrs on Thursday 18 April 2013. Witnesses described seeing a masked gunman flee the scene in a burgundy Peugeot 308.
Detective Chief Inspector Noel McHugh, leading the investigation from the Homicide and Major Crime Command, said: “Today we need the public to help us trace Jamie Marsh-Smith. We are keen to speak to him in connection with the murder of Zafer Eren.
“We know that allegiances shift over time and now months on from Zafer’s murder, people may have the confidence to talk to us. A £30,000 reward is available for information that helps us arrest and convict those responsible for Zafer’s death.
“Anyone with information of the whereabouts of Jamie Marsh-Smith is asked to call the incident room on 020 7321 7228 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
“For an immediate sighting of him, please call 999.”
Jamie Marsh-Smith has been known to have links to Tottenham, Hackney, Camden and Kilburn.
Detectives are also exploring links to two further shootings as part of this investigation. These were on 22 April 2013 in Tottenham where the victim managed to escape from the scene and on 30 December 2012 in Lower Edmonton. At this stage we are not releasing any further information about these shootings for operational reasons.
+ A 20-year-old man has been charged with the murder of Zafer Eren and is in custody to stand trial on 11 November at the Old Bailey.
