A headteacher is getting ready to pull on his running shoes in aid of a children’s hospice.

Robert Ahearn, who is head at St Andrew the Apostle School in Brunswick Park, Barnet, will take part in the Royal Parks Half Marathon to raise money for Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice on Sunday, October 6.

The school, based in North London Business Park, has chosen to support the hospice along with UK Thalassaemia Society in the coming year.

Mr Ahearn said: “It’s really important for all children to be encouraged to contribute to their local communities and understand some of the issues that they’ll come across at some point in their lives.

“It also demonstrates the Christian values of supporting one another and demonstration of loving our neighbours.”
