Production test which will show the quality or the reservoir in block 12 will resume in the coming days, President of the Cyprus National Hydrocarbons Company Charles Ellinas (CNHC) has said.

Last Thursday the Cypriot Energy Ministry announced that the production test could not be completed due to “mechanical complications.”

“Repairs are being made for the replacement of the valve that has malfunctioned. I`ve spoken to Noble today and it seems that they will resume the production test by the middle of the week,” Ellinas said speaking to CNA, describing the problem that emerged as usual.

“Consequently the process proceeds and the there will be no change in the planning and hopefully will have the appraisal`s well results by the end of September,” he concluded.

In its press release issued last Thursday, the Ministry also noted that after the conclusion of the production test, the rig ENSCO 5006 will commence the process of sealing the well and will depart from block 12, adding that the appraisal well`s initial results are expected to be announced by the end of September.

Exploratory drilling carried by Huston-based Noble Energy in 2011 revealed a gross natural mean raging from 5 to 7 trillion cubic feet (tcf). Noble Energy operates Block 12 with a 70 percent working interest. Delek Drilling Limited Partnership and Avner Oil Exploration Limited Partnership each own 15 percent.

On June 26, 2013, Cyprus government, Delek and Avner signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with regard to the construction of a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) terminal in the Cyprus.
