L/R Christopher Komodromou and Stavros Michalakis
New Manager appointed
KLN football club would like to express their gratitude to their outgoing
management team of Paul Bryan and Charlie Socratous for 2 years of extremely
hard work and unrivalled commitment. Their efforts over 2 years were enormous
and took the club from the bottom of the table to title contenders in the space
of one season. They will be long remembered as KLN legends and their efforts
will never be forgotten. The club would like to wish Charlie and Paul every
success in the future and thank them sincerely for everything they have done for
the club.
The club would also like to announce the appointment of Christopher
Komodromou as the new manager of KLN. After 10 years as a player for Arachne and
2 years on their coaching staff, KLN felt it was the right time to offer
Christopher his first managerial role. KLN chairman Stavros Michalakis is
quoted as saying ” Christopher’s ambition and attention to detail were the two
biggest factors in us appointing him. He is young and new to the management
scene but his wealth of experience in the kopa league along with his modern and
fresh approach to coaching is exactly what we were looking for when in search
for a new manager. The committee is fully behind him and sure he will be a huge
success at the club.”
Rio of KLN signs for Ryman League Club
Former KLN centre back, Rio Bryan-Edwards 21 years old (Photo below), has joined Canvey Island FC of the Ryman Premier League, after having come through the ranks as a youngster at Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal.
Rio then went onto join MK Dons, on a YTS before earning a professional contract with Barnet FC. After his time at Barnet, Rio had a potentially career threatening injury and decided to take some time away from the game and concentrate on life without football.
In late 2012, after being seen playing in the Cypriot league for K.L.N. FC ‘Kypriaki Leschi Neoleas’ (Cyprus Youth Club), Rio was recruited by the Pinder Reaux Sports Agency, led by John Spyrou, who negotiated his deal with Canvey Island FC.
Rio on his future:
“I feel I am joining a club who want to play proper football and impress the fans. I have seen the ground and facilities and they are really impressive. I can’t wait to get started and show the Gulls what I can do on the pitch.”
“I’m really looking forward to the challenge and I’m grateful for all the support and assistance from John Spyrou, James Sibley and all at Pinder Reaux & Associates”
In his last two seasons at KLN, Rio has won the players player of the year award and also the committee’s player of the year, showing the burgeoning quality that Canvey Island FC have at their disposal in their new centre back.
John Spyrou had this to say about Rio: ‘I hope that Rio will be the first of many young players to step up from KOPA into the world of professional and semi-professional football’.
